New Jersey SAP services is part of Stress Free Recovery. 

We now offer virtual DOT-SAP assessments throughout the state of New Jersey. Assessments must be prepaid via credit or debit card, and the current $350 rate include the assessment, completion of RTD (Return to Duty) paperwork with follow up testing plan, and assisting the patient with any treatment or educational requirement. 

The Process

An employee with a DOT violation must follow a specific process, outlined in the DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40, before he or she can be considered for return to safety-sensitive job functions.

The process, conducted by a qualified SAP, consists of the following steps:

The SAP conducts a virtual clinical evaluation, including standardized testing, to determine what assistance is needed by the employee to resolve alcohol or drug-use related issues. 

A monitored oral fluid non-DOT drug test from a third party lab may be required to confirm the  abstinence requirement for RTD which comes at an additional cost but may be covered by insurance.

DOT requires a recommendation for treatment and/or education in every case. The SAP then sends an initial evaluation report to the employer. 

· The SAP assists the employee in getting linked with an appropriate treatment program and/or education resource.

· The SAP monitors the employee’s progress and compliance with the recommended services.

· The SAP conducts a follow up evaluation to determine if the employee has demonstrated successful completion of the recommended services. If the employee has complied with the SAP’s recommendation, the SAP sends a follow up report to his or her employer, which includes a recommendation for follow-up testing and aftercare, if needed.

The SAP will also mark the patient's assessment and RTD status into the DOT-FMCSA clearinghouse data base as indicated.

SAP’s main function is providing the above-mentioned services to protect the safety of the traveling public. Therefore, SAP is not an advocate for either the employer or the employee.
